Last night I was waiting on Tracy to come home from work. I had a long day myself too and exhaustion was sitting in the rocking chair welcoming us both. Per usual for a Friday night the TV was lame so I watched the Trinity Broadcast Network.
In my amazement I saw Steve Harvey giving his testimonial concerning his salvation. I thought it to be very interesting, a funny man that disappeared getting God. After Steve's testimony a woman pastor from Georgia was on I think her name was Pamela White. Or maybe Paula.
It is interesting to me that religion is becoming cool. It is more interesting that the coolness of religion is hip during a time of austerity for our nation. As we got ready to retire for the night I took in a shower to wash the day off and one thing kept running through my head.
Matthew 24 Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
I read through the chapter this morning with fresh eyes and a hungry yearning for the Holy Spirit's wisdom.
Even a skeptical person can read the verses of this chapter and realize that what is written sure seems an awful lot like our current state of affairs. In a time of economic famine how many opportunists will look at God's economy and try to draw a pay check?
These folks running our country are providing the reality that has been foretold in the Gospel of Matthew. Celebrity following is jealous over the worship of Christians to the point that the believers influence is something they can't not have a share in and acting out the part of salvation may well be the best game in town.
God's army is rising up. No doubt about it, many are evaluating their lives in this emptiness and finding abundance Christ promised for living. Unbelievers will be swayed to the honey pot of this abundance by a motivated secular focus on supernatural wealth in a land of destitution and great tribulation. False Prophets are setting up their shows and placing the offering baskets out for the unfolding of what is written in the book of Micah 3.
I can't judge anyone's claim to salvation. The Holy Spirit has made it known to me that right now we will see an upsurge of faithful claims that welcome us and invite us into sinful pride. This is how many will be fooled and deceived.
God's elect are not those that wear religion for glory or for the contemplations of the flesh. God's elect are those faithful to living as Christ told us to be for supernatural abundance in living. Discipleship isn't praising man for turning to God, but rather turning men to know God and praising Him for all he has given us.
You are about to see the Greatest Show on Earth and it ain't Ringling Bros. I'd know as I used to be in the wage of that company. The Circus is coming though, and Hollywood is taking their piece of the pie.
